The North Narrabeen Lagoon Catchment

The North Narrabeen Lagoon Overland Flow Flood Study will include all flood affected land in the suburb of Warriewood, part of Ingleside, Elanora Heights and North Narrabeen.

A previous study has already investigated flooding along the foreshore of Narrabeen Lagoon, occurring from elevated lagoon water levels. This study is specifically concerned with overland flow that is runoff occurring during very heavy rain, when the capacity of drainage networks is exceeded, and water flows down roads and through properties. This type of flooding can occur anywhere in the catchment, including on high ground and the side of hills. Overland flow can pose a hazard to people close to the main drainage channels or drainage paths and may also occur along natural depressions and near stormwater pits. Pittwater Council is trying to measure and understand the extent of this type of flooding within the Study Area.
